Why Engineers Choose SSP EMI Shielding Materials

  • Strong EMI/RFI shielding performance across a broad frequency range.
  • Reliable electrical contact and sealing performance in demanding environments.
  • Material options for standard service, harsh chemicals, marine exposure, and non-silicone requirements.
  • Stable physical properties for long-term compression, sealing, and conductivity.
  • Proven performance in military, aerospace, industrial electronics, telecom, and outdoor equipment.
  • Material families designed to support both electrical performance and environmental resistance.

EMI Shielding Materials Available from SRP

SRP converts SSP conductive elastomers into custom gaskets and seals using precision die cutting, flash cutting, waterjet cutting, laser cutting, and rotary converting. We support both rapid prototyping and production-volume programs.

MIL-DTL-83528 Conductive Elastomers

For applications that require conductive elastomers aligned with MIL-DTL-83528 material types, SRP supplies and converts the following SSP materials:

These materials are commonly selected for military electronics, aerospace housings, communication equipment, shielded enclosures, access panels, connector interfaces, and other applications where both EMI shielding and sealing performance are critical.

Nickel-Aluminum Conductive Elastomers

For applications where galvanic corrosion resistance is especially important, SRP also converts nickel-aluminum filled SSP materials:

These materials are often considered for marine electronics, naval systems, aerospace equipment, and mixed-metal assemblies where material compatibility matters.

Non-Silicone EMI Shielding Option

For applications where silicone-based materials are restricted or not preferred, SRP offers:

This material is a strong option for outdoor electronics, industrial enclosures, utility equipment, telecom cabinets, and other assemblies that require a balance of conductivity, weather resistance, and non-silicone composition.

Material Comparison Guide

Choosing the right EMI shielding elastomer depends on the application environment, mating metals, and whether the design requires silicone, fluorosilicone, or a non-silicone option. The table below gives a quick side-by-side view of the SSP materials SRP converts into custom EMI/RFI gaskets and seals.

How SRP Helps You Get the Right EMI Gasket Solution

Choosing the right conductive elastomer is only part of the job. Gasket geometry, compression, enclosure design, operating environment, and mating surfaces all affect real-world performance. SRP works with customers to match the right SSP material to the application, then converts it into finished components built for consistency and repeatability.

We support material selection guidance based on environment and shielding needs, prototype and low-volume development runs, precision-cut gaskets for complex part geometries, production-scale converting for repeat programs, and finished parts for enclosures, covers, doors, frames, connectors, and interface seals.
