Nickel-Aluminum Fluorosilicone EMI Shielding Elastomer

SSP2551

SSP2551 is a 72-durometer, nickel-aluminum filled conductive fluorosilicone elastomer engineered for EMI/RFI shielding in harsh environments. Commonly used as a CHO-SEAL® 6503 alternative, this material combines galvanic-corrosion resistance with resistance to fuels, solvents, de-icing fluids, and other aggressive chemicals for marine, aerospace, and mixed-metal electronic enclosures.

Material Overview

  • Base Polymer: Fluorosilicone (72 Shore A)
  • Conductive Filler: Nickel-plated aluminum
  • Form Availability: Fully cured conductive sheet stock, continuous extrusion profiles, or ready-to-mold compound
  • Shielding Effectiveness: 112 dB from 20 MHz–10 GHz; performs to 40 GHz for high-frequency EMI suppression
  • Thermal Range: Approximately –60°C to +220°C
  • Electrical Properties: Typical volume resistivity around 0.03 ohm·cm
  • Chemical / Environmental Resistance: Resistant to jet fuel, aviation fluids, oils, solvents, de-icing fluids, and aggressive chemicals. Excellent galvanic-corrosion resistance in mixed-metal assemblies
  • Qualification Status: Tested for shielding effectiveness per MIL-DTL-83528; not QPL listed
  • Comparable CHO-SEAL® Cross-Reference: CHO-SEAL 6503

Why Engineers Choose SSP2551

  • Fuel and Solvent Resistance – The fluorosilicone base is designed for environments exposed to fuels, oils, solvents, jet fuel, and de-icing fluids.
  • Galvanic-Corrosion Resistance – Nickel-aluminum filler helps reduce galvanic issues in marine, naval, aerospace, and mixed-metal assemblies.
  • Reliable EMI Shielding to 40 GHz – Provides strong shielding performance for enclosure-level and higher-frequency electronic applications.
  • Built for Harsh Environments – A strong fit for applications exposed to salt spray, moisture, exhaust fumes, and aggressive chemicals.
  • Common CHO-SEAL® 6503 Alternative – A familiar cross-reference for engineers evaluating corrosion-resistant conductive fluorosilicone EMI gaskets.

Applications

  • Marine electronics, navigation systems, radar housings, and shipboard communication systems
  • Aerospace and defense electronics exposed to fuels, hydraulic fluids, or de-icing chemicals
  • Offshore or coastal telecom equipment requiring both EMI sealing and corrosion resistance
  • Aluminum or mixed-metal enclosures where galvanic attack is a concern
  • High-frequency RF equipment, connector gaskets, and access-panel EMI seals
