Silver-Aluminum Fluorosilicone EMI Shielding Elastomer
SSP2486-70 (Type D)
MIL-DTL-83528 Type D Fluorosilicone for EMI/RFI Gaskets in Harsh, Fuel- and Solvent-Exposed Environments
SSP2486-70 is a 70-durometer, silver-plated aluminum filled fluorosilicone elastomer engineered to meet MIL-DTL-83528 Type D requirements. It provides excellent EMI/RFI shielding while delivering superior resistance to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, and solvents—making it a preferred material for aerospace, defense, and other harsh-environment applications.
Material Overview
- Base Polymer: Fluorosilicone (70 Shore A)
- Conductive Filler: Silver-plated aluminum
- Specification: Meets MIL-DTL-83528 Type D (QPL listed)
- Shielding Effectiveness: Typical >110 dB attenuation from 20 MHz–10 GHz when properly installed
- Temperature Range: –55°C to +160°C (per MIL-DTL-83528 Type D)
- Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to fuels, oils, jet fuel, solvents, and aggressive chemicals
- Form Availability: Supplied as cured sheet material or compound; ideal for die-cutting, waterjet, flash cutting, and precision converting
Key Features
- Fluorosilicone Chemistry for Severe Environments – Maintains mechanical and electrical stability when exposed to fuels, oils, solvents, and hydraulic fluids where standard silicone would degrade.
- Silver-Aluminum Conductive System – Provides strong EMI/RFI shielding with improved galvanic compatibility in aluminum housings versus silver-copper fillers.
- MIL-Spec Type D Qualification – Ensures consistent conductivity, mechanical strength, and shielding effectiveness compliant with military performance standards.
- 70 Durometer Hardness – Balances compression sealing and structural stability, making it suitable for both flat gaskets and complex EMI interface seals.
- Clean, Precise Converting – Fluorosilicone sheet stock cuts accurately into thin, intricate, or multi-layer gasket designs used in mission-critical assemblies.
Applications
- Aerospace avionics and fuel-exposed electronics
- Military vehicle systems, radar, sensor housings
- Electronics in fuel, oil, or solvent-rich environments
- Aluminum enclosures where galvanic stability is important
- Connector gaskets, access panel seals, and precision EMI interface gaskets
- Industrial chemical processing or harsh-environment instrumentation
