Nickel-Aluminum Fluorosilicone EMI Shielding Elastomer
SSP2551
Fuel-, Solvent-Resistant Conductive Fluorosilicone for EMI/RFI Gaskets in Harsh or Marine Environments
SSP2551 is a 72-durometer, nickel-plated aluminum filled fluorosilicone elastomer. It is designed to offer a balance of EMI/RFI shielding, chemical/fuel/solvent resistance, and galvanic-corrosion resistance — making it a strong choice for marine, naval, aerospace, and other harsh-environment electronic applications where silver-filled elastomers may not endure.
Material Overview
- Base Polymer: Fluorosilicone (72 Shore A)
- Conductive Filler: Nickel-plated aluminum
- Form Availability: Cured sheet material, extruded profiles, or moldable compound
- Shielding Effectiveness: Tested attenuation >112 dB from 20 MHz–10 GHz. Effective up to 40 GHz for high-frequency EMI suppression
- Thermal Range: Approximately –60°C to +220°C
- Electrical Properties: Typical volume resistivity around 0.03 ohm·cm
- Chemical / Environmental Resistance: Resistant to jet fuel, aviation fluids, oils, solvents, de-icing fluids, and aggressive chemicals. Excellent galvanic-corrosion resistance in mixed-metal assemblies
Key Features
- Fluorosilicone Chemistry for Extreme Environments – Performs where standard silicone fails — ideal for fuel, oil, and solvent exposure.
- Nickel-Aluminum Conductive System – Minimizes galvanic corrosion when used with aluminum or other dissimilar metals in marine or corrosive environments.
- Strong EMI Shielding Across Broad Frequencies – Provides reliable attenuation for both enclosure-level and high-frequency electronics.
- High-Durometer Mechanical Stability – Offers good tear strength, compression behavior, and long-term sealing performance.
- Flexible Converting Options – Available in sheet, extrusion, or compound form for die-cut, waterjet, and precision-cut gasket fabrication.
Applications
- Marine electronics, navigation systems, radar housings, and shipboard communication systems
- Aerospace and defense electronics exposed to fuels, hydraulic fluids, or de-icing chemicals
- Offshore or coastal telecom equipment requiring both EMI sealing and corrosion resistance
- Aluminum or mixed-metal enclosures where galvanic attack is a concern
- High-frequency RF equipment, connector gaskets, and access-panel EMI seals
